Yay that all worked out didn’t it.
Just so you know in advance, I’m going to be away from civilisation and real internet for a week starting this Saturday. Usual forms of contact should still work, but on the off chance someone does leave a comment (I have one non-spam commenter) I probably won’t get it. I am working on building enough of a buffer that the site will update in my absence though.

I wonder how many of you were expecting this, considering who organised it (if you don’t know who organised this gathering, you probably haven’t read chapter 4, and reading chapter 4 would be very helpful for this chapter. Not necessarily ESSENTIAL (well, it probably is) but very helpful).
I’m not sure if the rain effect works as well on screen as it did on paper. Feedback maybe? I can try different things over the course of the chapter if this isn’t good.
WHAT’S THIS AN UPDATE ON A TUESDAY ARE WE IN BIZZARO WORLD? No, we’re in guest week land, and there’s an update every day this week.
Today’s art is by Rob Cureton of Orful Comics. I love Rob’s take on the characters, and like he said in his email to me, this could so be an album cover. I don’t think the main characters will be starting a band (SORRY ROB) but hey, it’s sixth form, there’s no end of awful metal bands being formed around them, maybe you’ll see one of them one day.
What I actually thought when sizing this for web was that if there was somehow an animated series of Private Study and I wasn’t the one drawing it, I’d be MORE THAN HAPPY for Rob to be the main artist on it. I can definitely see the characters moving about and talking the way he draws them, which is something I need to sort out more with my own art.
To be honest, there are a few artists who I’d be happy to see animating the characters, but yes. Hopefully I’ll be the first one to do so, since the degree I’m starting in September lets me do animation modules in the second and third years, so by the end of the degree maybe you’ll see some little shorts with the characters.
OH AND ROB DOES ACTUALLY ANIMATE THINGS. That’s his job. But also he has a youtube with some (old) films on including the masterpiece that is Ryan Blessed.
THIS PAGE/STRIP/WHATEVER. GUH. Trying to plan out exactly how it would work was a pain. HOWEVER I am really pleased with how it HAS turned out. Okay? Okay.
We’re now firmly in the second half of the chapter! 3 weeks of it left, and that means 3 weeks left for your submissions for the 100th comic BONANZA. I don’t know if that’s what I’ll actually call it, but it’s a fun word.
And finally, I’ve started drawing the collaboration! Admittedly I’m only 3 pages in, and they were some of the simplest ones, but you have to start somewhere!
TIRED.
But: news: if you’re interested in coming to my college foundation show, go to north greenwich station, head towards the O2, and when you get to the funny looking building with the round windows, go in there, and you should be able to get taken to the 6th floor where it is (no I don’t quite get the logic in putting it there either BUT THERE YA GO. It’s up until friday, (i.e. monday (today) tuesday wednesday thursday) 10am-4pm. There is some OUTRAGEOUSLY good stuff so if you can go I’d reccomend it.
Also I’ve thumbnailed out the collaboration project I mentioned. 40 pages, including the cover (cover = 4 pages because of how printing works. The comic itself is 36 pages)
It’s that time again folks! That time being friday. And thus no comic till monday.
I DID recieve an exciting thing on thursday though: the first bit of a script from a good friend for a semi-secret collaboration which I’m drawing and she’s writing. It’s about two issues’ worth of script, and one or both will definitely be out in time for Thought Bubble, which I sent off the booking fee and form for yesterday! Yay!
