Hey there!
So, I’ve been at college for a week now! It’s been fun, but it’s definitely hard work. In the end it’ll be worth it though
Graphics week this week!
Okay, first things first, I’m NOT going to apologise for the swearing here. This comic will contain lots of rudeness in the long run (probably spread out, but still) and also, that’s life! People talk that way, whether you like it or not.
Right, comic plug time! This week the spotlight goes to Rob Cureton of Orful Comics, which I keep forgetting to add to the enormous links list because I’m stupid. It’ll probably be there by the time this post goes live, but still. Anyway, his online comics are autobio strips, all of whihc are fantastic, despite the irregular update schedule. I could go on for ages about how much I love autobio comics and why, but I should probably save that for a blog post at another time. Particularly because I want to talk about his most recent mini, Tales from Scene City 1: Impossibly Emo. To paraphrase the blurb: Scene City is a place segregated by musical genre. You make sure you stick with your own, or you face the consequences. It’s a nice little poke at musical subcultures, a fun read and definitely worth the money. Rob’s art is wonderfully expressive, something I’d guess comes from his background in animation. He’s currently working on issue 2, and I can’t wait to see what he comes out with. You can pick it up from his online store, one of the shops listed there, or if you find him at a convention (I reccomend the last one if you can! He’s a nice guy!)(Or should that be Nice Guy™? I do like a good running joke)
See you next week, hopefully!
