The end of the year break starts with this guest comic by Michael Georgiou of Elemental Micah and Steve and Bob! I can imagine this being exactly how this situation would go down, although it would be IMMEDIATEDLY followed by an exchange of incredibly snarky comments.

So, David Wynne of Particle Fiction sent the inks/greytones for this fab drawing of Miss Dautry on her day off (Did you forget she was a metalhead? SHAME ON YOU. Or not because it’s not like it’s been mentioned in the actual comic yet at all, just in her profile) through while I was messing around on photoshop, so I ended up sort of you know kind of doing these colours. The shading and inks are all as they were, only thing different is the slightly rushed colours, but Dave said this was the version I should put up SO HERE WE ARE! Particle Fiction is a great comic, and its updating soonish so you should catch up on the last chapter which was the start of a STOOOOORY ARC.
Dear lord, we’re starting with the next chapter on monday aren’t we? That went by fast. Well this chapter will be another 7 week one, and it’s gonna resolve some of that DRAMA that’s been happening. There’ll be fun stuff too to balance it out though. However I don’t want to spoiler anything so SHUSH.
HI! Today’s guest art is by El Woolley of Gothy Beans, who I actually met briefly at Thought Bubble last year but I didn’t realise at the time because she ran off before I could ask her what comic she did and I couldn’t find her again to say hi. BUT ANYWAY then we found each other online a few months back by coincidence. I’m actually doing her a guest comic for her 200th comic soon so keep an eye out for that.
Guest week is nearly over! I’ve been recovering from sleeping on my brother’s floor (it was only one night! I’m getting OLD it seems) and haven’t been nearly as productive as I’d planned. Hopefully that’ll change over the next couple of days though.
Today’s two page comic is by Dan Bailey! Judging by his email and his general talk of his own comics, he has ZERO confidence in his comic drawthoring ability so I think you guys all need to go and boost that confidence right up, because this is GREAT. Jenn is the King of all Drama Queens in my eyes, if that makes any sense.
WHAT’S THIS AN UPDATE ON A TUESDAY ARE WE IN BIZZARO WORLD? No, we’re in guest week land, and there’s an update every day this week.
Today’s art is by Rob Cureton of Orful Comics. I love Rob’s take on the characters, and like he said in his email to me, this could so be an album cover. I don’t think the main characters will be starting a band (SORRY ROB) but hey, it’s sixth form, there’s no end of awful metal bands being formed around them, maybe you’ll see one of them one day.
What I actually thought when sizing this for web was that if there was somehow an animated series of Private Study and I wasn’t the one drawing it, I’d be MORE THAN HAPPY for Rob to be the main artist on it. I can definitely see the characters moving about and talking the way he draws them, which is something I need to sort out more with my own art.
To be honest, there are a few artists who I’d be happy to see animating the characters, but yes. Hopefully I’ll be the first one to do so, since the degree I’m starting in September lets me do animation modules in the second and third years, so by the end of the degree maybe you’ll see some little shorts with the characters.
OH AND ROB DOES ACTUALLY ANIMATE THINGS. That’s his job. But also he has a youtube with some (old) films on including the masterpiece that is Ryan Blessed.
Hello there!
The guest week begins with this fantastic comic by Rembrand of Beardfluff. Beardfluff is a great comic, and (generally) you’d be able to just jump on and off whenever you wanted to, if that’s what you want from a comic. Rembrand is always trying new things though and his current short story is something I’d be happy to read a much longer series of, as he’s shown a real talent for worldbuilding with it. But yes, as with all the guest contributors this week, I would urge you to go and read his comic.
Hi!
Today’s guest stip is by the wonderful Timothy Winchester, who is swanky enough to have two websites, so here’s one and here’s the other! If you don’t recognise Toby, you need to catch up on his comics. But yes, Tim does win the nice person award and the funny person award. I was going to say more but the essay I’ve been working on has killed my brain.
Remember, if you want to do a guest submission, the deadline is 10pm thursday, although before then is ideal.
Guest comic – Christopher Parsons
by GJohnson on January 3, 2011 at 06:00Hi there!
If you’d forgotten, this is the first of a couple of guest comics. Still time to get yours in before friday though!
Chris is a friend from sixth form, and he has predicted EXACTLY how Private Study would go down without a teacher there. In fact this means I can’t do this exact joke in the future! DAMN YOU CHRIS! (Thanks Chris!). Chris doesn’t have a comic or anything, but he DOES have a deviantart which he hasn’t updated in ages.
Remember to come back wednesday for another fantastic guest strip.
